A lot of women write to me and ask, “How can I get my ex boyfriend back”?

My first question is always, “Why do you want him back?”

After all, unless one of you has been abducted by aliens or struck in the head by lightning, you’ll still be the same ‘ol two of you with the same ‘ol problems. Whatever it was (jealousy, insecurity, cheating, boredom) that broke you up in round one (or round thirty-seven) will likely still be there. Right?

But what if you really, really, really want him back? Or what if the connection you have is so amazing, so special, so meant to be that you can’t imagine your life without him? Sometimes, that’s all we need. A second chance.

If you’re having trouble finding the woman of your dreams, you may be surprised to find that you’ve been looking in all the wrong places.

On yesterday’s post, I talked about the Best Cities to Meet Single Women

I compiled this list based on a number of important criteria — number of women to men ratio (all our top 10 cities have a surplus of women, low divorce rates, level of education, social opportunities to meet these fabulous women, fitness level, and finally, good restaurants. After all, most early dates happen in restaurants — I want to make sure you have something yummy to eat while you’re making your love connection.

But, many of you have written in to ask if I’d list the worst cities to meet single women as well. I know, I know, you’re wondering if you live in a dating wasteland.

Below you’ll find the 5 most difficult cities to meet single women:

5) Dallas, TX
Dallas has loads more single men than women. (As do Houston and Austen.) The good news is, there are more women in Brownsville, Corpus Christi, and El Paso. If you’re a Texan looking for love, try taking a road trip.

4)Seattle
There are about 40,000 more men than women in Seattle.

3 ) Phoenix, AZ
Phoenix also has around 40,000 more women than men, and generally speaking, retirement communities aren’t best known for their nightlife.

2) Las Vegas, NV
Vegas is more of a place to hook up than to live — there are more than 20,000 more men than women in Vegas. But hey, at least you can drown your sorrows in 25 cent lobster.

1) Los Angeles, CA
LA is about as tough for guys as NYC is for women. There are about 40,000 more men than women in LA, which makes for some pretty competitive dating.

So with no further ado, below you’ll find my top ten cities to meet single women:

10) El Paso, TX
El Paso boasts 20,000 more women than men, and has some top notch Mexican restaurants, if you’re into guacamole. Here’s an interesting note about Texas: There are more men than women in Austin, Houston, and Dallas. There are more women in Brownsville, Corpus Christi, and of course, El Paso. If you’re a Texan looking to make a love connection, try taking a road trip.

9) St. Louis, MO
St. Louis has about 20,000 more women than men, plus, an arch.

8 ) Boston, MA
Boston also has 20,000 more women than men, plus a ton of really great social opps. Guys — really, ta good chunk of the East Coast has pretty good odds.

7) Baltimore, MD
I love you Baltimore — and so do 20,000 more women than men. As you may know, Maryland boasts some of the best crab cakes on the planet, and great access to the kind of cultural events you do lots of when you first start to date.

6) Chicago, IL
First, Chicago has 40,000 more women than men, so the odds are really working for you now. Aside from that, Chicago has social opportunities galore, deep dish pizza, the Cubs, and the best tapas restaurant I’ve ever eaten at. Dating heaven.

5) Memphis, TN
Great BBQ, fantastic music, and 25,000 more women than men.

4) New Orleans, LA
Do you know what it means to date in New Orleans? 40,000 more women than men, lots of social opps, and all the crawfish, shrimp, and oysters you can eat.

3) New York, NY
This town is the motherlode of single women — in the NYC area, there are more than 180,000 more women than men. You won’t find better odds, or restaurants in the country. Plus, the divorce rate is low, and there are socializing opps galore in the city that never sleeps.

2) Washington, DC
40,000 more women than men, plus a high level of education, a higher than average level of fitness, and all the social opportunities you can stand.

1) Raleigh, NC
Raleigh wins my top honors because it has a highly educated population (thank you, Research Triangle), a low divorce rate, fabulous social life, southern hospitality and some of the best BBQ you’ll find anywhere.
